Is the resistance on the Bowflex power rods the same as the weight from free weights?
I've heard rumors that the amount of weight that you can do on a Bowflex with Power rod technology does not equal the amount of that you can do with free wights. This is hard to describe and probably harder to understand, so here is an example:
If I can bench 210 on a Bowflex, can I bench 210 on a regular free weight bench?
I don't have access to any free weights so I can't test for myself... so help please?
My understanding is that the power rods increase resistance as they bend more. Not initially the full weight.
But as you change arm position using weights, the leverage changes affecting the resistance some, too.
Just keep incrementing the rod resistance 5-10%. You are getting stronger. Try doing pushups with various hand and arm positions. The more you can do in all positions, the stronger you are.

Can Bowflex power rods break and cause injury?
I heard there have been instances of the Power Rods breaking and causing injuries. I am considering buying one of these machines, and have not found any information about injuries from the rods. Does anybody have any information about this?
I had a Bowflex for years without any problems. I hadn't heard that rumor...and that's probably what it is...a rumor or isolated incident. I really loved mine and I want to get another one when I am able.

Is the BOWFLEX REVOLUTION SPIRAL TENSION machine helpful for degenerated disc decompression?
BOWFLEX is a company that makes POWER ROD home gyms, but also NOW has a REVOLUTION machine that uses SPIRAL TENSION WEIGHT for strength and body building, but is it ALSO USED by CHIROPRACTORS for DEGENERATED DISCS, PINCHED NERVES AND BULDGED DISCS?
I take this to mean that you have disc problems rather than just aging process? If so I would not recommend any machine to release any pinched nerves, or bulging discs. If you are not into NASA, please note astronauts who spend a lot of time in Space have disc problems on return, when gravity hits! Spent months in zero gravity so the discs had no pressure, but on return, OPS! In the old days they used to use 'traction' but realized it does not help, probably makes things worse. However good luck.
