i want to buy dumbells and im limited on cash so i figure id buy those bowflex dumbells where you can change the weight with a knob. I dont know exactly what theyre called and i dont know the price so basicly my question is.......what are they called?

I can't afford the $450 for the bowflex dumbells tht you dial up the weight and pick it up and its there. Does anyone have advice on ones that are good but not that much??

Reebok sells one that goes up to 25 lbs. You can get them at Academy I believe or even Walmart I think.

i have had a set for 6 months... birthday present ;-) they're awesome,,,
if they had them at the gym i would pick them up before the rack set... fluid change of weight,,, i give them 10 out of 10 stars...

I just recently started lifting weights on a regular basis. At first, I just used cheap weights that required constant changing for different exercises and I found myself spending more time tightening and loosening bolts than doing the actual exercises. Due to the mechanism that holds the plates in place, using a lighter weight still requires the wide length of the dumbbell to be the same. They are good space recovery dumbells. I have had mine for 5 months and already both of them have broke. If you drop them when there is a lot of weight on them, like say 50lbs. At the wrong angle, they will brake. The diminutive discs that are linked to the handle part that hold the plates on will snap off like a graham cracker.1 Vote(s)
I took it upon myself to take it apart and see the inner working and was disgusted with the lack of quality. At each end is a 19mm bolt that holds all together. On mine, the bolts were finger loose.
